OK, what exactly is this website about?
I've been a pre-dent (a Dental school applicant) and believe me, it sucks!!! Probably the most long-term stressful situation I have been in. During the whole process I was obsessed with getting into dental school and a website that really helped (or hurt, depending on how you look at it) was the Student Doctor Network, or SDN. As far as predents were concerned, SDN consisted of helpful links, interview feedback and the forums. Of the three, the later was where most of the SDN'ers obsess about the process. Everyone is completely insane about the schools and the progress of others.
After being on the forums a lot, I realized that about 80% of every thread and every post was to gain the following info about other applicants:
- Where they applied
- What their GPA and DAT are, or their "stats" as it's called.
- When their AADSAS app was complete
- How many interviews they got
- When they got interviewed
- How many acceptances they got
- When they got accepted
- How many acceptances they will decline
- Where have they decided to attend.
- etc, etc
Basically, people want to size up other applicants and compare themselves to it (whether this makes them feel good or bad!). And that's what this website is about. It stores and tabulates a wealth of information and displays it an easy to read format to elicit the most use.
Remember, this website will ONLY work if many applicants create a record and keep it updated throughout the application process. If you have been to SDN, this website will replace the "Official Interview", and "Official Acceptance" threads. How many times were those threads "repaired" because people messed it up? Not any more!
In conclusion, I hope you will use this website and gain valuable information from it. The more people that use it the more inclined I will be to add more requested features like private messages or other graphs and charts.
